The Mac OS X version comes pre-bundled. All that is required is to drag the VIDA icon to the desired location on the computer such as the Applications folder. Double-clicking on the icon will launch VIDA. The first time VIDA is run, VIDA may prompt for the location of the license file. If this occurs, there will be two VIDA icons in the Dock until VIDA is restarted.
To uninstall VIDA, simply drag the VIDA icon to the trash from the folder in which it was installed. Nothing else is required.
Microsoft Windows and Linux frequently use the Ctrl key as a part of a keyboard shortcut. However, on Mac OS X, the Ctrl key is often replaced by the Apple key for common operations such as copy, paste, and undo.
Similarly, in the 3D display, the Alt key must be held down to display popup information on Mac OS X instead of the Ctrl key as used on other platforms.
In a terminal window, VIDA can be launched from the command line as follows:
open -a vida
as long as VIDA is in the search path. If VIDA is installed into the Applications directory, it will automatically be in the search path.
