This chapter provides the necessary details required to install VIDA 2.1.2. Currently supported platforms include:
Support for additional platforms is possible and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Prior versions of VIDA do not need to be explicitly uninstalled in order to install the current version. The current version will, by default, install over any previous 2.x version found, but will not affect any previous 1.x version. 1.x and 2.x versions can co-exist on the same machine without difficulty. In addition, VIDA 2.1.2 can import user preferences from previous 1.x versions to provide a more seamless transition (VIDA will prompt the first time it is run if this is desired).
Multiple 2.x versions can be installed simultaneously as well, but this is not recommended as they access and write to the same preferences file - which could potentially cause frustrations.
