7.6 Statistics

Statistics for each numeric column can be viewed in the spreadsheet. Spreadsheet statistics can be computed by clicking on the Data menu and selecting the ``Show Spreadsheet Statstics" option. To hide the statistics view, select the ``Hide Spreadsheet Statistics" option in the Data menu. Showing and hiding the statistics affects the current spreadsheet view. This means that seperate statistics can be viewed for not only the main spreadsheet, but all of the filtered ones as well.

The following statistics are computed:

min The minimum value of the column.
mean The maximum value of the column.
stddev The standard deviation of the column.
skewness The skewness of the column.
kurtosis The kurtosis of the column.

The statistics view is a live view, and therefore when data is altered in the spreadsheet the statistics view is automatically updated. For large data sets and files, this can take some time and make editing the spreadsheet cumbersome. When editing large data files, it is generally a good idea to hide the statistics view during the editing process and then making it visible again once the edits are complete.
