5.8.1 Predefined Types
As mentioned in the previous section, four different predefined grid types
are supported:
- Generic Grid - This is the grid work horse. Completely
customizable and has bare-bones settings for displaying grids. The default
setting is to generate one contour for generic grids. The default color for
that contour is blue.
- Electrostatic - Electrostatic grids are generated with two
contours: a positive contour and a negative contour. The positive contour is
colored blue by default and the negative contour is colored red.
Electrostatic grids are unique in that the negative contour is usually set to
minus the positive contour value so that they only need one contour slider.
Additionally, the electrostatic contour threshold values are global to the
application. This means that every electrostatic grid will be contoured at
the same value.

The default values for each grid type can be modified in the application
preferences (see chapter 12).
