Cadence Molecular Sciences (OpenEye)—a business unit of Cadence Design Systems, Inc. opened a new facility in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

New Mexico is a growing scientific ecosystem including biotech, early-stage drug discovery, and pharmaceuticals. The new state-of-the-art facility is 32,947sq ft and houses over 100 employees. The interiors blend mid-century aesthetics with Japanese Zen elements, that feature a palette of subtle hues and hexagonal patterns to inspire introspection.

“The building design mirrors our approach to molecular modeling, with understanding the current structure in order to guide the integration of new elements,” said Jharrod LaFon, Vice President of Research & Development, Cadence Molecular Sciences. “We prioritized four key functions including focus, collaboration, flexibility, and cultural support to fulfill our unique needs. Our goal was to create a harmonious blend of focused work areas and open spaces, catering to the needs of hybrid teams and our diverse workforce.”

The spacious design includes several open seating areas with glass whiteboards, film studio, wellness room, coffee bar, and game area. With the scenic Sangre de Cristos Mountain range as the backdrop, the gym and courtyard help promote employee well-being and a positive company culture.
