Please note, we do not sell source code. However, we do sell programming toolkits for most of our algorithms enabling you to customize their operation as well as build your own tools.
Both the terms of use and pricing for our standard commercial licensing were determined based on the expectation that the software is being used for in-house drug-design efforts. Other uses may be allowed (please contact us to discuss); however, they may require alternative terms and pricing. Examples of such uses include:
In addition to supporting commercial ventures, OpenEye seeks to foster and support bona fide academic research as much as possible while still running a successful business. As such, OpenEye offers heavily discounted (and in many cases free) licenses for academic users.
One of the core features of our standard licensing model is unlimited usage by licensed user(s) (whether individually licensed or by site). This means that there is no limit to the number of CPUs that can be used or the number of jobs that can be run. In addition, as long as the software is being used by and for a licensed user, the software can be run locally, at an off-site data center, or even in the cloud. For site-wide license holders, there is also no limit to the number of simultaneous users. We do not believe in tokens or other arbitrary limitations on software usage. If you have paid to use our software, we want you to get as much usage as possible.
Our annual pricing is posted on our website and everyone gets the same great deal. We do not arbitrarily increase our quotes to fill your available budget. We do offer significant discounts for governments, non-profits, and academic groups. In addition, we also have a free licensing model for academics engaged in public domain research or teaching. Parties interested in perpetual licensing options should contact us for details. Perpetual licenses are purchased once and the associated software can be used indefinitely (or as long as the hardware exists to run that version). The initial purchase includes the first year of maintenance (technical support, software updates, and ports to new hardware platforms). After the first year, maintenance is optional (paid at 18% of the current list price); however, unmaintained licenses are not entitled to technical support, software updates, or access to new hardware platforms.
If you would like to evaluate our software before purchasing, we provide short-term evaluation licenses that are fully featured and not limited in any technical capacity. The only restriction is that the software may only be used for evaluation purposes. It is forbidden to use the results of the software for research purposes or for any purposes other than the evaluation of the software. If in the event that evaluation use does yield a result that could be applicable to your research, you should immediately purchase a license to that software. To obtain an evaluation license, please review the terms of the evaluation agreement and submit your request here. Please be aware that the expiration date on the license corresponds to when the license was generated and not when the software was installed. As such, you should make sure that you are ready and have the necessary time to evaluate the software before submitting your request.
